What is Carbide End Mill?
Carbide milling cutter refers to the milling cutter made of carbide. Understand the carbide milling cutter to know what is carbide, carbide is high hardness milling cutter refractory metal carbide (WC, TiC) micron powder as the main component, cobalt (Co) or nickel (Ni), molybdenum (Mo) as the binder, in the vacuum furnace or hydrogen reduction furnace sintering powder metallurgy products.
Use of carbide high hardness milling cutter:
Carbide milling cutter is generally used in cnc machining center, cnc engraving machine. It can also be installed on the ordinary milling machine to process some relatively hard and complex heat treatment materials.
1. Carbide cylindrical milling cutter: used for horizontal milling machine processing plane. The cutter teeth are distributed on the circumference of the milling cutter. They are divided into straight teeth and spiral teeth according to the tooth shape. According to the number of teeth divided into coarse teeth and fine teeth two. The spiral rough tooth cutter has less teeth, high tooth strength and large chip tolerance space, which is suitable for rough machining. Fine tooth milling cutter is suitable for finishing.
2. Carbide face milling cutter: used for vertical milling machine, face milling machine or gantry milling machine on the processing plane, face and circumference are cutter teeth, there are also coarse teeth and fine teeth. Its structure has integral type, insert tooth type and transposable 3 kinds.
3. Carbide end mill: used for processing grooves and step surfaces, etc., cutter teeth in the circle and end face, can not work along the axial feed. When the end mill has end teeth through the center, it can be fed axially.
4. Carbide edge milling cutter: used for processing all kinds of grooves and step surfaces, both sides and the circumference of the cutter teeth.
5. Carbide Angle milling cutter: used for milling grooves into a certain Angle, there are two kinds of single Angle and double Angle milling cutter.
6. Carbide saw blade milling cutter: used for machining deep grooves and cutting off workpieces, there are more cutter teeth on the circumference. In order to reduce friction during milling, there are 15 '~1° side angles of the cutter teeth. In addition, there are keyway milling cutter, dovetail groove milling cutter, T groove milling cutter and a variety of shape milling cutter.
There are two main milling methods of carbide milling cutter with respect to the feed direction of the workpiece and the rotation direction of the milling cutter:
The first is forward milling. The rotation direction of the high hardness milling cutter is the same as the feed direction of the cutting. At the beginning of the cutting, the milling cutter grabs the workpiece and cuts the final chip.
The second is reverse milling, the direction of rotation of the high hardness milling cutter and the direction of cutting feed is opposite, the milling cutter must slip a section on the workpiece before the start of cutting, starting with zero cutting thickness, to the end of the cutting thickness reaches the maximum.
In forward milling, the cutting force pushes the workpiece toward the table, while in reverse milling, the cutting force pushes the workpiece away from the table. Because of the best cutting effect, forward milling is usually preferred. Reverse milling is considered only when the machine tool has thread clearance problems or problems that cannot be solved by forward milling.
Each time a carbide milling blade enters a cutting, the cutting edge is subjected to an impact load that depends on the chip cross section, the workpiece material, and the type of cutting. Ideally, the diameter of the milling cutter should be larger than the width of the workpiece, and the axis line of the milling cutter should always be slightly away from the centerline of the workpiece. Burrs are more likely to occur when the tool is placed directly toward the cutting center. The direction of the radial cutting force will change when the cutting edge enters the cutting and exit the cutting, the machine tool spindle may vibrate and damage, the blade may shatter and the machining surface will be very rough, the carbide milling cutter is slightly off the center, the cutting force direction will no longer fluctuate, the milling cutter will get a pre-load.
